Another week, another book restricted!

In 2021, Amanda Gorman exploded on the scene with her inauguration poem. Since then she has become a NYTimes Bestseller most recently with her book, "The Hill We Climb" which featured her inauguration speech. Nothing to see right?

Enters the State of Florida.

Florida has a law that allows parents to file a complaint to have a book removed or restrict in their kid's school library if they consider or deem it inappropriate.

This slippery slope law allowed a parent to do just that with Amanda Gorman's book.

A few week's ago we shared about Bookum (short hand for book community) a new social bookclubbing App and company launching this summer by the founders of Read More Co. and today we want to give an update… Bookum received our first investment!

Through a startup accelerator program (AKA college for new businesses and founders) by Access Mode, we received 20K in non-dilutive funding to help us launch the app!!
