Shelf:

With the release of Jada Pinkett Smith's new book, "Worthy," and Britney Spears' "The Woman in Me," we are using the shelf section to talk about details from their books and suggest a celebrity book list (Told you there was a lot of news).

*Enters Jada*

In her memoir 'Worthy,' Jada set the world on fire (really just internet bloggers and celebrity gossip pages) when she revealed that she and Will Smith had been separated since 2016.

For our 'no public math' people in the back, the infamous 2022 Oscars were only a year ago.

Many people were shocked to learn this information and even more confused about why Will Smith slapped Chris Rock if they weren't even together for 6 years… the short answer is "you do crazy things when you are in love." Okay, over to Britney.

Details of Spears' "The Woman in Me" have surfaced for the book releasing Tuesday.

Along with details of her stay in conservatorship, cheating allegations, and alcoholism, Britney also reveals having an abortion while with Justin Timberlake.

All I can say is if you are into Celebrity Book Dramas, this week was your Super Bowl!

Remember those really cool book fair pop-ups that came to your elementary schools when you were young?

Well, they are popping back up in the news this week. Scholastic Book Fairs faced criticism for rolling out a new diversity collection that schools can either opt into or out of, called "Share Every Story, Celebrate Every Voice."

This announcement, just a week or so after 'Banned Book Week,' came as a blow to many fighting against book banning and censorship.

“My big concern was they were asking schools if they want to opt out on diversity,” said Gabrielle Balkan, a school book fair organizer from Germantown, N.Y., told NBC News.

Our take:

There is no doubt Scholastic is under immense pressure from school districts, especially in states with strong book banning laws, but at the end of the day, this is a 'save our bottom line' play. Scholastic is choosing dollars over reputation, which will ultimately still have an impact on their bottom line.
